Indian Shrimp Exporters Consider Paying Floor Price to Oversupplied Farmers with Global Demand Low

Some Indian shrimp exporters may set a minimum price to pay for shrimp from the region's producers. Farmers say they are burdened with excess inventory from higher production while global demand has declined in all markets besides the US. "The Seafood Exporters' Association of India are contemplating support for farmers with a minimum price," said Tara Patnaik, vice president of the exporter group and Chairman of Falcon Marine Exports. "We are also having a dialogue with the government for the support."
